Backed by a £4.1m grant from the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, Baltic Ventures has today unveiled its Accelerator 2025 cohort, which includes digital tech startups spanning sectors such as proptech, healthtech, e-commerce, edtech, fintech and climate tech.
Over the past two years, Baltic Ventures has directly facilitated £1.1m of investment from 33 angel investors into early-stage technology companies through its syndicates, and positioned these companies to successfully raise follow-on investment.
This is Baltic Ventures’ third annual Accelerator programme; the organisation has now supported 60 founding teams through its Accelerator and Launchpad programmes. And since Spring 2023 Baltic Ventures have also delivered, or sponsored, an additional 100+ workshops, programs and events attended by over 6,000 founders, investors and ecosystem stakeholders, helping to catalyse the city region’s vibrant start-up and scale-up ecosystem.
Mo Aldalou, Programme Director at Baltic Ventures, said:
“This year’s application, recruitment and selection process was our most competitive yet and we were particularly impressed with the calibre of businesses and founders from Liverpool City Region, reflecting the ecosystem’s strong and promising trajectory.
“I couldn’t be more excited to welcome our new cohort of 10 ambitious founding teams to our annual Accelerator programme, where they will receive the support, tools and connections they need to propel them into their next stage of growth.”
Cllr Liam Robinson, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Cabinet Member for Innovation, said:
“Innovation is at the heart of our plans for growth in the city region and Baltic Ventures and initiatives like this are vital elements in making those plans a reality.
“Through this accelerator Baltic Ventures is helping our city region become a launchpad for some of the most exciting tech talent in the UK. I’m sure the support that these exciting companies will receive will enable them to thrive, boosting our local economy and creating high-quality jobs.”
Claire Lewis, CEO of Baltic Ventures, says:
“We’re excited to unveil this year’s Baltic Ventures Accelerator cohort, who were selected from an outstanding pool of applicants. These teams share a belief that business can and should be a powerful force for good.
“And we’re proud to have engaged 33 angel investors over the last two years to invest in our cohorts and we look forward to supporting the companies to raise follow-on investment capital.”
